Be Like A Tree…

Leadership

Looking up at three California redwood trees

“Be like a tree in pursuit of your cause.
Stand firm, grip hard, thrust upward.
Bend to the winds of heaven.
And learn tranquility.”
– Memorial dedication to forester Richard St. Barbe Baker

I came across this quote while reading William Ury’s The Power of a Positive No and thought it would be perfect for today’s Super Quote Sunday. I love the image – stand firm, bend to the winds and be tranquil. Wise words for all of us.

About Liza Wood

After a dozen years leading video game development projects in a variety of roles, I decided to pursue a Master of Data Science at the University of British Columbia. Studying data science doesn’t mean I’m moving away from leading people. Growing data science teams need collaborative, pragmatic, Agile leadership to connect data to all areas of the business. I would like to share that point of view, along with my experiences, on this blog.
