Good Ideas Don’t Come From Lone Heroes

I work in an industry that requires a lot of people with a wide variety of skills and backgrounds to work together to come up with a fun, creative product.  I also work in an industry that suffers from the lone hero syndrome.  You know – the lone hero will come up with an amazing idea and save the day.  Sigh.  When faced with a creative challenge, we’re so much better off working together and building on ideas from a variety of sources.  After spending this past week collaborating with a number of people on a couple of creative projects, I thought I would share Steven Johnson’s TEDGlobal 201o talk in Oxford, England.   I saw this video at the recent TEDxConcordia here in Montreal and loved it!   We lived the ideas in this video this week and I’m looking forward to sending off a presentation of which we will be proud.  It was also a lot more enjoyable to work as a team!

As I was writing this post, I discovered that this past week was TED 2011 in Long Beach.  I’m looking forward to seeing the videos as they get posted.
